The Directors of Republic Gold Limited today advise that the Company has entered into a new Joint Venture in the Hodgkinson Basin covering a prospective area that abuts the northern borders of Republicís Mitchell River tenements.

EPM 13675 covers 249 square kilometres and abuts the northern borders of Republicís and contains Fine Gold Creek, which is the source of significant alluvial gold production. To-date no hard rock gold occurrence has been found that would source this alluvial gold.

Importantly, EPM 13675 gives the Company coverage of any further northern strike extent of the highly significant Retina Fault. Significant gold mineralisation is associated with the Retina Fault further to the south. This includes Republicís highly prospective Tregoora area, which was the subject of an ASX release by the Company on 27 February 2004.

The Joint Venture, with a local alluvial gold miner, gives Republic 100% rights to any hard rock gold occurrence found in the tenement, EPM 13675. The Companyís Joint Venture partner maintains rights to 100% of alluvial gold occurrences. Other terms of the Joint Venture include the 50/50 sharing of the maintenance costs of the tenement and the issuing of shares in Republic to the Joint Venture partner upon the successful commissioning of a hard rock gold mine within the tenement.

Yours faithfully

John Kelly
